Remarks & Notes
A U25B/GP38 helper set shoves hard on the rear of a Penn Central coal train climbing the final miles to the summit of the Alleghenies. The uphill tracks are covered with sand from the countless other trains that have made this climb. The day after this photo was taken, Penn Central declared bankruptcy.
