Santa Fe FM 557 handles switching of former Santa Fe power for Amtrak at Archer Avenue Yard south of downtown Chicago. Amtrak acquired a number of Santa Fe F unit relics to help them take over Santa Fe and other roads' passenger trains. This shot was taken about 16 months into Amtrak's existance. Loco servicing would eventually be consolidated in Chicago closer to Union Station near Roosevelt Rd. Note the relatively rare "banana bonnet" unit.
