In the surprise of the week for Georgia Railfans, Q541 had one of the 10 tier 4 EMD's that CSX owns on the point. Having been caught by surprise at the news that one of them got out of Florida, I managed to get down from work in time catch it several times. Here, we see the motor leading the train, along with 3 new CM44AH rebuilds on their way from Erie to be activated into the fleet, dragging up the hill through Kennesaw. It’s really weird to see how quiet the T4 EMD is because even through here with the grade & the curves, it was scary quiet, making it sound like the AC44 behind it was doing most of the work. I found out later in the day that CSX is going to send two of them to the Cumberland Division for testing on Coal Drags & two more into the general pool for testing all over the system on the road trains, so hopefully I'll get more chances to get them in action.
