Having just joined the Pacific Ocean for the first time, UP 1111, adorned in a special paint scheme honoring the employees of the railroad, belches smoke as the engineer notches up the SD70ACe as it leads a nine car engineering special north for San Luis Obispo. This train originated in Las Vegas, Nevada, early in the morning, offering a stark contrast of the scenery available throughout Southern California that one train can see in a day.
