Diesels have always been banned from New York's Grand Central Terminal, but in the wake of a severe power shortage in 1983, Metro North was forced to borrow E8s from New Jersey Transit and Amtrak to keep things running. NJT 4248 and an Amtrak mate stand at the head of a Poughkeepsie-bound train in GCT's cavern.
