South Amboy, New Jersey was known for decades as the point where New York & Long Branch trains changed from electric to steam, and later, diesels for the trip down the Jersey coast. Very close to the point where the change occurred was McCormack Sand, a large rail/barge/truck sand processing/transloading facility. Here a Conrail GP15-1 works with McCormack S4 1268 to switch the facility. I have found no documentation, but the number leads me to believe that the Alco is a former Boston & Maine unit.
