Remarks & Notes
Scene in the deep winter on the line of the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke, which is closed for traffic from october to june every year. But this day, the steam rotary snow blower R 12, built in 1913 for the Rhaetian Railway and since 1996 owned by the DFB, is on the very first test run after a 18 year restoration by the "R 12 group" of Martin Horath in Goldau. Cogwheel steamlocomotive HG 3/4 # of the DFB, lettered as "FO 4" (Furka-Oberalp Bahn # 4) and built in 1913 as well is shoving. The train will just enter the 11.0 % grade of the cogwheel section, marked with a sign "E" for end of rack track, on the opposite side is a "A" for Anfang (start of rack track). Here, the train has to slow down to about pedestrian speed for threading the cogwheel into the rack.
