Southern California’s fair weather allowed the Southern Pacific Railroad to perform some repairs outdoors on the whisker tracks around the turntable at LA’s Taylor Yard. On a typically overcast March afternoon, SP Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton S-12 switcher was blue-flagged as it was undergoing repairs while situated between an EMD GP35 and a GE U25B. SP’s BLW and BLH switchers featured distinctive large signal light housings on each end. SP 2154 was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works successor BLH as SP 1547 in October 1953. (Los Angeles, California – March 10, 1973)
