Conrail train ALCG (Allentown, PA- Corning, NY) is on the last leg of its journey as it rolls west on the former Erie main line through Elmira, New York. I have not been able to positively identify the structure on the left but I do not think that it is railroad-related. Instead, I believe that it is the 1928 enclosure of an 1890’s carousel at the edge of Eldridge Park. The ride was dismantled within a few years after this 1986 photo. The ride was restored in 2006 and is in a new enclosure a few hundred yards from this location.
