Remarks & Notes 
The area around Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, received over two feet of snow over the previous three days before a frigid Arctic high settled in over the region. The next day, on January 27, 1996, Wisconsin Central train 43 has just passed through Byron as it begins its descent of Byron Hill, south of Fond du Lac, in extremely high winds and well below zero temperatures.
