A Blue Visitor. On the morning of Friday, June 18, 2021 AMTK 100 (P42DC, Midnight Blue) was on display at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Maryland along with BO 51 (EA, EMC, 5/1937). Both units have recently been painted. Amtrak 100 is a in a unique scheme to celebrate Amtrak's 50th Anniversary Commemorative Painted Locomotive Program to celebrate "the dedication and commitment of our employees to moving people around the clock and across the nation." Baltimore & Ohio Railroad 51 was in the shop for a 5 year complete cosmetic restoration that involved extensive metal and carpentry work to restore its original 1937 appearance. Amtrak 100 will return to service after the weekend. In the background, the former B&O’s Passenger Car Works served the fleet for many years, and after a 2005 restoration continues to do so to this day.
