High Plains Drifter: The windswept plains of Wyoming can be a cold environment and the comparatively lonely rails of the Colorado & Southern Rwy., at this time still a separate entity of BN, hosted just a handful of trains in dark (train order) territory. From the vantage point of the UP Greeley Sub overhead bridge just south of Speer, BN 8044 North plods up the long grade from the Front Range, in the distance, to the high plains of Wyoming.
