Supply Chain & Rails
Evergreen Terminal at the Port of Los Angeles / San Pedro. International supply chain issues plaguing the world are very evident in this photo, Container ships anchored all the way to the horizon waiting to be unloaded onto trains like those in the middle left of the photo. Massive cranes on rails lift containers from the huge ship; Ever Liberal. Waiting trucks will transfer the boxes to sorting areas where they will be moved to trains for various destinations around the country.
The Ever Liberal was built in 2014 and is 104,000 DWT, 335x46 meters which is a fairly common Container ship size.
The Ever Liberal will leave Los Angeles for Oakland a few days later. After a brief stop the massive ship will move on to Korea, and it is now in China.
The long break wall that surrounds the harbor was built to protect ships from torpedoes during World War 2.
