It’s another busy morning on Burlington Northern’s route over Crawford Hill in Nebraska. As a quartet of BN EMD SD40-2s splicing a fuel tender, being used as a manned helper set out of Crawford, rounds the curve at Breezy Point, another empty coal train appears going downgrade. The helpers will cut off at Belmont, and follow this train down the hill—as long as there isn’t another empty close behind.
