Blanketed by a heavy snow is the rugged scenery surrounding the mountain town of Pinecliffe, Colorado, on April 23, 1999. A Union Pacific coal train curves into town as it proceeds west on UP’s Moffat Tunnel Subdivision. I just came down the icy road in the upper right background, Colorado State Highway 72—which, other than the railroad, is the only way to access Pinecliffe.
