SOO 742 & 743 show off their newer Candy Apple Red colors while sister SD40 no. 747 wears its as delivered scheme at the former Milwaukee Road yard in Bensenville, IL. The original scheme was designed by Wallace Abbey, a Soo Line employee, back in 1961 when the Soo Line combined the Duluth South Shore & Atlantic with the Wicsonsin Central & original Soo Line (Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault Ste. Marie). Alco DL640s and GP30s were the first locos delivered to SOO in that scheme.
