| Looks like the UP plans for a new bridge continue to move along. The plans for the UP to replace this 1907 bridge across the Mississippi River with a fixed high level bridge. Not sure where plans are currently at, but the new bridge will clear the 100 year foot plain by 44 feet and will widen the channel for navigation from 177 feet wide to 378 feet. I wanted to get some air shots of the bridge, but there is tons of junk on both ends making it a not very easy project. Here an eastbound Z-train departs Clinton to points east in Chicago. Highway 30 from Iowa to Illinois is in the background. |
