Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls
Burning a clean stack under the watchful eye of a great fireman, Durango and Silverton 480 rounds one of the final bends of the famed Silverton Branch under Cataract Falls. A few years ago, this shot wouldn't have been possible under these conditions as the heavily loaded train would have produced a cloud of coal smoke that would obscure this shot unless the train was stopped and the fire allowed to burn down. Today though, the engineer has the 480 moving at a nice clip while his fireman has the fire set to not waste fuel... |
