| For a few days the usual SD70 pair for the gas local was broken up as #4408 was taken offline and replaced with #253, an SD40. This was a rare opportunity to see a conventional cab leader back on this turn. A side effect was a few less horsepower, causing the turn to regularly take the MRL 4th sub when going west due to the lesser grade. Microbursts seemed to be a regular afternoon event as today's turn passed through a downpour as it headed towards Paradise. |
