Mismatched Geeps. Union Pacific Railroad GP40N 1364 (née-DRGW 3109, GP40-2, 12/1972) and 1080 (née-SP 9732, GP60,5/1991) were headed from Westlake towards towards the UP yard in Lake Charles, Louisiana over the Calcasieu River on the afternoon July 18, 2020. The original owners of the power, Denver, Rio Grande & Western and Southern Pacific, were one time competitors with the UP that have been purchased in recent decades as the overall number of independent Class I and II railroads declines and consolidation continues.
