The sun is setting on a cold December 7, 1996, as Wisconsin Central train 47 rolls through Brookfield, Wisconsin and is past its venerable depot. WC train 46/47 was a North Fond du Lac to Milwaukee turn, that used the connecting track at Duplainville and trackage rights on the Soo Line’s former Milwaukee Road main line to reach Milwaukee. This particular day, the turn was led by WC’s only EMD FP45.
