Remarks & Notes
UMBARGER TX Oct 8 1988 — Santa Fe SD45-2u 5824, SD45-2B 5514 and C30-7 8112 lead a TOFC train on the journey west to Clovis NM for refueling and a new crew. EMD built the unit in May 1972 and delivered it in bookends livery. Sometime after August 26 1972 is was painted in yellow warbonnet. In July 1986 it was rebuilt as an SD45-2u, painted in failed Southern Pacific-Santa Fe merger paint. Sometime before Jan 1 1991 it regained its yellow warbonnet paint. Morrison Knudsen performed maintenance on it in April 1994. In February 2000 it was relettered and renumbered BNSF 6474. My photo.
