A Steam Stop. On Saturday, April 15, 2023, the Railroad Historians of the Lehigh Valley and the Lehigh Valley Chapter, National Railway Historical Society sponsored a “rare mileage” excursion on the Reading and Northern Railroad - Passenger Railroad. A 3-car train of RDCs covered a number of areas not normally visited by the railroad's passenger excursions, most of which have not seen regular passenger services in decades. Part of the trip included a trip to visit CNJ 113 (0-6-0, Alco, 1923), an operating steam engine that runs 100 this year. A lot of unusual trackage was covered with a few photo stops sprinkled in through out the day with a venerable set of Budd cars by a group of over 200 who traveled to Port Clinton, Pennsylvania to ride for the day. CNJ 113 was fired up for the event at the Minersville, Pennsylvania station so that fans could take a turn a sounding the whistle. This operable steam engine can be seen in action a few times a year.
