Returning From The Return. On April 19, 2016, Amtrak Train 975, with AMTK GP38-3H 520 (GOT/CN 500, GP40TC, GMD, 11/1966) was passing Allen Road on the former Delaware & Hudson Railroad now Norfolk Southern in Port Crane, New York on the way back to Albany-Rensselaer, New York under a cloudless sky. After they served GO Transit for over 2 decades, Amtrak purchased all eight GP40TCs and they operated for another career length before being sent to Norfolk Southern's Juniata Shops for rebuild and returning for what has been a successful third act. The AmFleet I cafe is being used as a rider/crew car, allowing the power to travel at track speed. The prior day, this train had brought a number of Viewliner IIs back to the CAF factory in Elmira, New York for repairs.
