Remarks & Notes
Union Pacific's 1881, a long nose SD40N leads a unit train on the Duncan Sub at Saginaw, Tx. This unit originally built as unit 3102 (SD 40-2) features a Snoot nose which are 116'' long as compared to the standard 88'' low noses. These were ordered to house the radio-control gear for mid-train slaves. Apart from Union Pacific, SantaFe, KCS & Southern Pacific also at one point used Snoot / long nose locomotives
