Remarks & Notes
"Inside the Second Oldest on the Island"

Taking a look inside the St. James depot in 2023, one will find that its interior remains quaint, with a gated ticket window (now unused), wood bench and restored pot belly stove in the center. Despite having a modern high-level platform just feet away, this station house remains open to waiting passengers on weekdays, between 5:00am and 10:00pm.

Constructed in 1873, the St. James depot is the second oldest surviving station house on the Long Island Rail Road, surpassed only by Hewlett station (1869) on the Far Rockaway Branch.
