Black Rock Cut. A famous location from the Erie Railroad days, the 'Black Rock Cut' a few miles east of the MTA Metro-North Railroad station in Port Jervis, New York provides an excellent point of elevation and framing to see NJ Transit Train 59 with NJTR GP40PH-2 4101 (NJDOT Tribute, née CNJ 3672, EMD, GP40P, 10/1968) leading at the moment of sunset. This week, NJ Transit celebrated the 44th Anniversary of its formation, and this locomotive is from the last remaining group of legacy railroad equipment still active on the roster. This particular unit was recently repainted in the first scheme used by the State of New Jersey, complete with the Department of Transportation logo.
