Remarks & Notes

The sights and sounds of a summer thunderstorm have been silenced by the powerful roar of EMD and GE prime movers as they grind away on wet steel rail. Over 17,000 tons of North Antelope Mine coal for the Comanche Power Plant (Pueblo, CO) is putting strain on the drawbars of this 120 car coal train. Dropping to speeds of 13 MPH, the DP motors are helping to shove the last half of the train over the hump out of Keenesburg. From here, this westbound coal load will nearly reach track speed on the slight downhill run into Hudson, before climbing another grade into Denver.
