Returning To The Rockaways By Rail! On Sunday, August 13, 2023, the New York Transit Museum and Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA NYCT Subway operated a sold-out excursion from 96 Street-2nd Avenue in Manhattan to Beach 116 Street in Rockaway Park, New York. Through the efforts of many dedicated people from different parts of the organizations, the excursion went off with out skipping a beat, and extra trips were operated for those who chose to take an extra ride instead of going to the beach the whole time! MTA NYCT Subway R-6-3 1000 is continuing relatively straight over the place where Rockaway Freeway parts from the elevated neat Beach 108 Street as it is about to be put in the yard at Rockaway Park-Beach 116 Street after a successful day.
