The Hudson Line OCS Preview. On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, MTA Metro-North Railroad operated an Inspection Train with wrapped heritage units MNCW 201 (Conrail/MTA) and 208 ("Beachball") and its 3 office cars. The cars are in fact old, one former New York Central and the other two former Lackawanna Railroad. The locomotives are contemporary models, but "wrapped" in the paint scheme of predecessor railroads. The train headed up the New Haven Line to New Haven-State Street, where the train then went around the loop for the return trip to Grand Central Terminal, giving railroad executives and management the opportunity to inspect many ongoing, completed, and needed improvements on the line. On the day before the Inspection Train's scheduled run, October 3, 2023, the train was sent from the MNR Croton Harmon Shop to Grand Central Terminal to be ready for the morning trip. For this leg, MNCW 201 (Conrail/NYS) led, seen passing through CP 12 in the Bronx, New York.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
With three lines radiating north out of Grand Central Terminal plus service to Port Jervis on the former Erie, Metro North covers a wide swatch of New York's northern suburbs with varying terrains.
