Remarks & Notes
BELEN NM Sept 10 1983 — Santa Fe SD40u 5010 is tied down next to what is left of the roundhouse. EMD built the unit (s/n 32046) in April 1966 as ATSF 1710 and delivered it in Bookends livery with blue body and yellow ends. In April-July 1970 it was renumbered ATSF 5010 and later was repainted into blue body with yellow warbonnet. In December 1981 the San Bernardino CA shops rebuilt it into an SD40u. On September 22 1995 it was transferred to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe. On Jan 10 2000 it was renumbered to BNSF 6310 and retained its yellow warbonnet livery. My photo.
