Streamliners A Decade Later. The "Streamliners At Spencer" event at the N.C. Transportation Museum kicked off on Thursday, May 29, 2014. During the long weekend, 26 classic streamlined units, many traveling significant distance, would be on display as well as operating at the Spencer, North Carolina campus. Shortlines, private owners, Class Is, and museums all worked together with Norfolk Southern to gather examples of EMDs and Alcos from the 1940s-1960s in a single place for the public activities. Helicopter rides were offered for an additional fee, and it was the best way to take in the scale of the event that the next day on Friday, May 30, 2014.
