Northern Lights Limited, 2024. The Railroad Museum of New England's Christmas Season Trains are back with a different consist for 2024. The exterior of the train features the Naugatuck's pair of vintage but extensively rebuilt EMD GP9s with the recently arrived de-motorized Budd SPV on the other end as a shoving platform. There is a large variety of seating available (though few tickets this late in the season), including Coach, Lounge, Santa's Lounge, and Premium Coach, more information can be found through the link in the caption.
In 1981, 13 Budd SPV-2000s were built Connecticut DOT, Budd's successor to the RDC. After serving briefly, they were found to be unsatisfactory and withdrawn from service. Subsequently, 11 of these cars were converted to "Constitution Liners" (basically de-powered SPVs as coaches). Car 1001 became a conference car, retaining cab controls at one end. After retirement, it was purchased by a private owner and stored at The Danbury Railway Museum, and was recently brought the car to the Railroad Museum Of New England/Naugatuck Railroad, where it is used in passenger service.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
