Over most of its right-of-way, the Valley Railroad is oriented north-south, making RP-style photography a bit of a challenge. For about 3/4 of a mile between Dennison Road and Old Deep River Road however, the line swings to a more favorable northwest-southeast orientation and runs through the Centerbrook Meadow, the most open spot on the entire railroad. Here, we see a Thanksgiving weekend Santa Special crossing the meadow as it proceeds southbound toward Essex Depot in the late afternoon sunlight.
