With the current downturn in traffic, CN has quite a surplus of engines lying around. Somebody had a great idea, and has spread out their C40-8 type units at most of the terminals system wide and placed them in "SSV" (stored serviceable) service. Now, if a train has issues online with another engine, they can simply order a rescue crew to hop on the SSV unit and head out to assist. Here we see CN C40-8W 2159 idling on the shop track in Jasper awaiting a call to duty.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
