Amtrak’s westbound Lake Shore Limited flies through New Carlisle, Indiana, at 1:57 p.m. on the afternoon of February 25, 1990. Freshly-painted Conrail GE B23-7 No. 2020 normally hauls freight, but gets to “stretch her legs” hauling people as she leads three Amtrak F40PHs as power, probably due to one or two of the F40s having mechanical issues.
