Remarks & Notes
With the last light of the day hanging on, Norfolk Southern train 955, a deadhead move of their Office Car Special makes their way north through City Yard in Knoxville as they make the journey to their home base in Altoona, PA. Originally, the plan was for this shortened version of the train, which had hosted NS executives & board members from the City of Cincinnati, the owners of the Cincinnati, New Orleans, & Texas Pacific, for an inspection of the whole line from Cincinnati to Chattanooga earlier in the day, to spend the night at TVRM after dropping the guest off, a move that has been done several times before in the past. Like many things when it comes to special moves like this one, however, it was subject to change. It was decided at the beginning of the day to instead refuel & change crews at TVRM & then start the journey back to Altoona. This naturally, not knowing of the change in plans until it was too late, screwed my plans up & having never actually seen the NS OCS before, I was determined to get at least one good shot of it while there was light out. Due to having to play catch up & wanting a good lit shot, I eventually wound up all the way in Knoxville to one spot in particular, eventually moving to City Yard due to the fading light & them getting held up in Loudon. Fortunately, they finally arrived in Knoxville with just enough sunlight left to make a shot possible. Thanks to my little adventure, it ended up being a long night & drive for myself right after this. Ohhh, the things we'll do for this hobby.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
