Steam Meets On The Keller Branch. While only one of the two locomotive's pictured is actually under steam, who would have thought even this would be possible in 2017 on a portion of the Southern Pacific's original Keller Branch. Hidden in the small town of Independence, California, the volunteer crew of the Carson & Colorado Railway worked their magic to bring Southern Pacific 18, dubbed the "Slim Princess," back to life. Follow the success of this and other small outings, the locomotive can now be found operating under contract on the famed Durango & Silverton Railroad (DSNG) as train crews there train on an oil fired engine (with the conversation of the DSNG engines imminent).
