Remarks & Notes
The widest station, the oldest cars. One of the remaining examples of the MTA New York City Transit Subway 1964 Budd built order of R-32s, 3361 leads an eight car train on C (8th Avenue/Fulton Local) on the evening of Sunday, October 20, 2019. The first mass produced stainless steel subway cars for NYC, the 600 made in the Philadelphia Red Lion plant would set a world wide precedent for future design. The Hoyt–Schermerhorn Station is unique for a number of reasons, including six track wide with four platforms. The A & C lines use tracks A3 & A4, the G uses E1 & E2, between which there is no physical connection. The dark platform to train operator's side is for Track A1, which was a part of the "HH Court Street Shuttle" from 1936-1946, and has since been used for transfers to the Transit Museum and film movies and tv shows, including "Crocodile Dundee", "Coming To America", and "Law & Order". The R-32s are on short time as the Bombardier built R-179s are resolving their initial teething problems.
