Coming, Going and Gone!
While Reading #2102 may have ruled the summer of 2022 thus far on the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern, her sister #425, a 4-6-2 Pacific, is not interested in going quietly. On July 9, 2022 the former Gulf Mobile & Ohio Pacific pulled an excursion from Penobscot (Mountain Top more or less) to Jim Thorpe, PA and return on former Lehigh Valley Railroad (LVRR) trackage. The trip south is mostly downhill into the heart of the Pocono Mountains at Jim Thorpe. The real show is heading north as #425 battles a constant grade up the Lehigh Gorge. Here, RBMN #425 thunders ahead on the S curve at Bergers on the RBMN Lehigh Division. Note the telegraph poles still standing from the LVRR days.
