Well into NS days but looking good this southbound rattles thru town. As i recall this was the first time we encountered a certain Mr. Wrinn, then a local reporter.

Somewhat later GP38-2 having been built with paper air filters after the wait-and-see Southern got onboard with that innovation.

Built with oil bath air filters in the mid-70s, by this date SOU had converted to paper filters as reflected by the modification.

One of the last of this model, still in original colors, is prepared to depart eastbound on a (now) NS train. Soon this one's fuel tank will be under a GP38 and the rest will be scrapped.
