SD70WHAT? With just over 1/3 of the horsepower of a single modern road unit, this gutty SD18 lugs 122 coal cars towards the BNSF at Duluth.

SD18 193 rolls 123 empty coal cars across the French River along the north shore of Lake Superior. The cars had been stored along the North Shore Scenic Railroad.

Missabe 193 is small in comparison to the Mesabi Miner. Compare this shot to 432284 taken exactly one week earlier.

Mechanical problems with a sister unit forced the DM&IR #193 into service solo. She did a great job, pulling 123 coal cars 26 miles over some decent grades. Seen here about to hit the lakefront.
