Taken on one of those crazy college trips where we tried to hit as many yards as we could in about 8 days with almost no depth at all but we got a few classics.

Clean RS3's on the headpin of a quarter mile rail relay train. Shot is of the first rail replacement before the Acela upgrade in the 90's.

Ex-CNJ 1554, later owned by George Hart's Rail Tours Incorporated, now sits in a dead line in the Jim Thorpe yard near the turntable.

RS3s were the first locomotives on the newly formed Providence and Worcester. On the books the P&W dates back to 1844 but was never a real operating railroad untill Penn Central was formed.

A rare find of not one, not two, but three Alco RS3s working in mainline freight service. The three beauties are seen here coming out of a Rock Cut in East Stroudsburg Pa.
