Westbound on the Shoreline at Devon, Connecticut, New Haven FA-1 0418 and two 1200 class GP-9s head for the terminals east of New York City. The FA-1 was rebuilt by Alco Products to 1600 hp. in 1959. This was shot on the the first Sunday afternoon of the Penn Central era. While it appears to be business as usual, diesels, like 0418 and friends have already begun to displace the familiar ex-Virginian E-33 electrics, as ordered by the new owner. In the background is the highly personalized Tower.
