On its second day of service wearing its new Veterans paint scheme, Amtrak Non-Powered Control Unit 90208 brings up the markers on Pacific Surfliner #774 as it nears the end of its run from San Luis Obispo to San Diego, California, on November 12th 2015. Amtrak operates two trainsets on the "Surfliners" utilizine older, single-level Amfleet and Horizon Fleet cars, and the NPCUs are normally assigned to those sets. But for the first few days, 90208 was on a set of more common Alstom-built Surfliner cars, making this shot somewhat rare. (Note that the 90208 is coupled to a cab car, making the need for the former F40PH unnecessary.)
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
