The Thief River Falls Chamber of Commerce building was previously the Soo Line Railroad station, and an important operating office location for the railroad. One of SOO's more substantial stations, it was served by the "Winnipeger" passenger train which lasted until 1967, outlasting Soo Line passenger service in Wisconsin by two years. The location was on the Twin Cities-Winnipeg mainline, with important grain gathering lines operating west from Dakota Jct. just north of town, and an important grain connection to Superior, WI running east from Plummer, MN, not far south of Thief River Falls. Today CP trains roll by the former station.
