Street running in small-town America. In the early morning mist, the crew of a local freight carefully makes its way down a residential street in a small town in the Pacific Northwest.
This carefully planned scene features Santa Maria Valley 2-6-2 #205, a 1924 Baldwin product, street-running on West Olive Street in Lebanon, Oregon, on the Albany & Eastern Railroad, with the cooperation of the local residents and the participation of a classic car club. It was coordinated by Lerro Photography, the Albany & Eastern Railroad and the City of Lebanon, OR. The automobiles brought to this event by their owners were a pure slice of Americana. I believe that the car in the foreground is a Franklin Touring Car, with an air-cooled engine, I'm guessing from about 1924 or thereabouts.
A look at steam operations on Oregon's Albany & Eastern Railroad, headquartered in Lebanon, OR, and featuring Santa Maria Valley Railroad Locomotive #205.
