Remarks & Notes
FORT WORTH TX (February) 1974 — Amtrak SDP40F 526 leads the northbound Texas Chief as its crew awaits departure clearance. EMD built the 526 (b/n 72694-27) in July 1973. Santa Fe acquired the unit in September 1984. In February 1985 it was rebuilt as an SDF40-2, repainted and renumbered to ATSF 5255. In April 1994 it underwent maintenance at Morrison Knudsen. On Feb 11 1998 it was renumbered to BNSF 6965 and retired in May 2002. My photo.
