Introducing the newest American Motive Power Inc. GP38M-3 remanufactured locomotive, LTEX 3823. Rebuilt from the frame up using base model LTEX GP35u 2574, the LTEX 3823 has an all new prime mover and components, as well as an autostart system that AMP has been installing. The 3823 is painted for the Northern White Sands Railway, a new industrial line that will be based out of Peru, Illinois later this summer. It was originally constructed as ATSF GP35 1374 in 1965 and later became ATSF 3374, before being rebuilt to GP35u and number ATSF 2874. It would later become BNSF 2574 and eventually LTEX 2574, before being remanufactured. Photo is within the confines of the American Motive Power Inc. facilities on May 1, 2018. It is slated to ship west on CSXT within the next week or two.
