Remarks & Notes

Steamtown's new visitor center opening day, with the 261 being prepared to pull the 1995 NRHS convention special out of town, as No. 3254 simmers on an adjacent track. It was about 90 degrees F., with thunderstorms on the horizon. The footbridge to the downtown shopping mall from which this photo was taken is now closed (hopefully only temporarily,) and the only live steam at Steamtown today is 0-6-0 No. 26, whose tender can be seen above the 261's cab.
